Aquaponic Spin Filter
A swirl filter, also known as solids filter are commonly used in aquaculture set-ups. they are also widely used in aquaponics systems to help remove fine particles produced from fish waste. this is especially true in semi-commercial and fully commercial scale aquaponics systems with hundreds of aquaponics fish stocked at any given period.. Today i am demonstrating how easy it is to make a 5 gallon swirl filter for your aquaponics system. The necessary retention time in the aquaponic swirl filter is usually much higher than the amount of time that our water actually gets to spend in the device. this is because we generally need to move large volumes of water every hour to satisfy the formidable bod (biological oxygen demand) that such systems require..
Check out this video to see an easy way to keep an aquaponics swirl filter (radial flow) clean and other tips on design. i have been running this particular. So another happy customer has his system nearly finished.. every system i build is custom made to suit our customers requirements. here we designed this syst.... You should aim for at least 20 minutes in your clarifier. that means if you have a 50-gallon drum as your clarifier you can have a maximum flow rate of 150 gallons through your clarifier in one hour. (20 minutes is 1/3 of an hour, 50-gallon x 3 = 150 gallons). this time is also called retention time or detention time..
